How we collect, use and protect personal information across our website and Learning Portal. Last updated September 2026.
Who we are
The Lo Presti Institute of Education, Research, Technology and Innovation ("the Institute", "we", "us") is an independent institute registered in Scotland, United Kingdom, as a charity (SC054768). For the purposes of UK data protection law, the Institute is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. You can contact us at any time at info@loprestiinstitute.com.
The information we collect
- Enquiries. When you email us, we receive your name, email address and the contents of your message.
- Applications and enrolment. When you apply for an award, we collect the information you provide about your background, qualifications and goals.
- Learning Portal accounts. When you study with us, the Learning Portal holds your name, email address, study activity, assessment submissions, feedback and results.
- Website analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visitors and understand how pages are used. This collects technical information such as pages visited, device and browser type and approximate region. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not use advertising cookies.
How we use it
We use personal information to answer enquiries, consider applications, deliver teaching, assessment and certification, keep our website and Learning Portal secure, and understand how the website is used so we can improve it. We do not sell personal information to anyone.
Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law we rely on: your consent (for example, optional analytics); contract (to deliver your programme of study); our legitimate interests (to run and improve the Institute and keep our systems secure); and legal obligations (for example, charity and education record keeping).
Who we share it with
Only with the service providers who help us operate — our hosting provider, email service and Google Analytics — under contracts that protect your information, and with regulators or authorities where the law requires it. Some of these providers process information outside the United Kingdom; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we keep it
Enquiry emails are kept for up to 24 months. Learner records are kept for the duration of your studies and afterwards for as long as needed to verify awards and meet our legal duties.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to data portability. To use any of these rights, email info@loprestiinstitute.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security and changes
We use technical and organisational measures to keep personal information safe. If we change this notice we will update this page, so please check back from time to time.
